Shoplifting & Theft Prevention Classes
If you’ve been charged with shoplifting or theft in Georgia, you were probably ordered by the court to complete a Shoplifting or Theft Prevention class. Program is tailored to help individuals understand the underlying causes of theft and learn practical tools to prevent future incidents. Our approach is to help you pass the court order and build your skills so you don’t end up in court again.
Key Objectives
The court asked you to attend this class to:
Provide insight into the psychological and behavioral triggers behind shoplifting
Develop strategies for decision-making and impulse control
Teach the legal consequences and long-term impact of theft on personal and professional life
Encourage personal accountability and respectful behavior
What You’ll Learn
At the end of the course, you’ll develop a lot of skills:
- Common reasons for shoplifting
- Understanding how substances like alcohol or drugs can impair judgment and lead to theft
- Introduction to coping mechanisms, including mindfulness, stress management, and problem-solving skills
- Role-playing real-life situations to practice refusal skills and smart choices
- Discussion of Georgia’s legal system, penalties, and restorative justice options
Tailored Support for Your Needs
In some cases, individuals are required to complete between 5-15 hours of theft prevention education by the court. At Start Again Counseling, we are happy to tailor a program that meets your required hours and provides meaningful, court-compliant support.
